Relationships: Kindness and Goodness
To begin, let's look at some verses about the kindness and goodness of God:
1 Chron. 16:34
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Psalm 119:68
You are good and do only good;
teach me your principles.
Titus 3:3-5
Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled by others and became slaves to many wicked desires and evil pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy. We hated others, and they hated us. But then God our Savior showed us his kindness and love. He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins and gave us a new life through the Holy Spirit.
Acts 20:24
But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus--the work of telling others the Good News about God's wonderful kindness and love.
The kindness of God towards us is ultimately displayed in our redemption.
Goodness is the deliberate preference of right to wrong, the firm and persistent resistence of all moral evil, and the choosing and following of the moral good.
Kindness id Goodness in action: helpfulness to others prompted by an experience of God's redemptive love.
Seriously, what can we do this week to show God's kindness to others?
