Although we meet together as a community on Sunday mornings, its important to remember that church is not an event that we attend weekly. To have true community and a thriving church we must continue to worship and experience community throughout the week. Feel free to comment on different discussion topics, share what the Lord has done in/for you, and check back often to see what we're focusing on together....

The End is Near!

Dave Nelson exposed Mark 13 tonight. A very interesting passage indeed.

So what the heck is going on in this chapter? Regardless of some of the prophesies and circustances involved, we can all take a few things away from this passage.

First, Jesus had strong warnings against deceptions. Jesus goes as far as to describe exactly how He'll return so we know nobody can duplicate it.

Also, Jesus is giving us hope because of His return in spite of these horrific events.

Lastly, Jesus wants to draw out a sense of urgency within us. Complacency seems to be one of the biggest problems the Christian community deals with.

Dave sees two main urgent needs:

1. An urgency for the salvation of others.
2. An urgency to maintain and cultivate our relationship with Christ.

Ultimately, how would our lives be different if we knew Jesus was coming back in ten years? or tomorrow?

Why is it important to be ready as if every day could be the day?

Are there limits to how we should be prepared? (ie. bomb shelter, tons of canned food, Simpsons DVDs, etc.)
