Although we meet together as a community on Sunday mornings, its important to remember that church is not an event that we attend weekly. To have true community and a thriving church we must continue to worship and experience community throughout the week. Feel free to comment on different discussion topics, share what the Lord has done in/for you, and check back often to see what we're focusing on together....

Carly's Flowery Skirt is Pretty

Tonight Carly spoke on faith, inspired by events in Mark 10.

First, there was the parents who brought their kids to Jesus. They had faith. Yeah.

What about that rich guy? What was up with his faith? First of all, he bows down to Jesus which indicates that he understands his place. He also addresses him as good teacher which says he understands Jesus' status as the Son of God.

What about the blind guy? He calls out to Jesus as the "Son of David" which is the only time in the gospels he is called this. It means that the man knew Jesus was the Son of God.

Hebrews 11 details the stories of the "Heroes of Faith" and one interesting fact is that many of them did not even receive what they were having faith for. The point was their strong faith, not that they received what they asked or prayed for.

Why is it so hard to pray and really believe that God hears us and responds to us? Are we afraid of disappointment? Is it too illogical?

Carly says we need to have faith like the blind man. He believed in Christ and His power to heal. He went to Christ in complete submission and faith...he acted on his faith and was rewarded for it.

So...
What is holding you back from the faith that God wants you to have?
What promises (from God) have you forgotten for one reason or another?
What logical steps need to take place in order to take back those dreams and desires?

How about this simple question:

What are you believing God for?

I find it interesting that someone asked me that question and it took me quite a bit of time to think of some things that I am believing God to accomplish in my life and in the life of our community of faith. Well, I have thought of many things now and I know that God is desiring to partner with my prayers & faith to see many of these things accomplished. Some of them I am not sure about his feelings concerning them - but I guess I will see as i continue to believe for them!

Anyway, I pray that you would have things too that you are praying in faith for. I believe God wants us to ask him for things in faith.

Sometimes I don't know if I have faith. I don't know if I doubt God or if I doubt myself. I think I get stuck in the mode of thinking that I need to do things myself, when really Jesus Christ is my salvation.

By the way, hello Journey folks! I just looked up your website after attending last weekend. Feel free to look at my blog, reticentsquirrel.blogspot.com and leave me a comment as well!
